There are missing boxes, whole hogs, a wonky smoker, a busted foamer and an oversleeping culinary student in The Local Palate's account of Daniel Doyle (of Poogan's Porch) cooking at the James Beard House in New York. Lots of logistical mishaps, but it ends well with cheddar grits and banana pudding panna cotta. [TLP]
