"The bar program is really geared toward light, bright, approachable aperitif-style cocktails. And we tend to veer a little more toward rum, since we're here on the coast," says The Ordinary's GM Brooks Reitz. In this video for Garden and Gun, the Eater Young Gun semi-finalist also demonstrates how to shake up the bar's Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and explains the cocktail's link to maritime Charleston.
Also relevant: City Paper's Robert Moss on why rum in having a moment in the Holy City. In that piece, Reitz is interviewed about another rum drink, the elderflower liqueur-laced Zissou. Moss writes, "A straight sip of Smith & Cross will curl your toes, but in the Ordinary's Zissou cocktail it undergoes a remarkable transformation."
