Charleston knows how to get out the vote, especially when it comes to food-related internet polls. This week, Mount Pleasant's Crave Kitchen & Cocktails destroyed the competition in Esquire.com's survey determining the most life-changing mac and cheese in the country.
Crave's Executive Chef Landen Ganstrom, a pasta-abstainer himself, told Esquire's Eat Like a Man blog his slow-cooked version of the Southern classic "includes ten-year aged California cheddar, parmesan, mozzarella, and a 'secret ingredient' suggested by his 10-year-old daughter."
All this cheese-laden glory comes just months after Sullivan's Island and West Ashley's Home Team BBQ was voted best ribs in the nation by the same blog.
