In a big departure from the quaint Five Loaves Café that sat in the former Millennium Music building, on the corner of Calhoun and King, it seems that food chain Chipotle Mexican Grill will be moving in. Post & Courier announced that the Denver-based burrito shop submitted plans to the city for a storefront at the 374 King St. address.
Rents are notoriously high on Lower King Street, so it's not surprising that a widespread chain with an abundance of capital was the first to step in to the empty spot. It should be interesting to discover the other "two-story restaurant on the second and third floors along the Calhoun Street side" that P&C writer Abigail Darlington reported. Thoughts? Will it be another nationally recognized name? Hard Rock Café Charleston or perhaps a Cheesecake Factory? Or something local? (Guesses not based on any factual evidence.)
