Jeni Confirms that Jeni's is Coming to Charleston

Jeni Britton Bauer, the Jeni in Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, contacted Eater to cheerfully announce that the frozen dessert establishment was coming to Charleston. Bauer says the team should sign the lease today on 499 King St. Post & Courier got an early jump and reported the deal yesterday. For those not familiar with the Ohio-based chain, know that Bauer and her employees wake up with one thought, "How can we make a better ice cream today?" One taste of the locally-sourced ingredients can confirm their handiwork. Food & Wine once stated, "No one makes ice cream like Jeni Britton Bauer."

Bauer told us she adores Charleston because it's a "world-class city without feeling too big." She also said they'll start working on a flavor wholly unique to the Holy City. This will then be distributed nationwide. The store isn't slated to open until the spring, but if you wanted to sample the product, Caviar and Bananas on George Street stocks a few varieties.
