Founding partner of recently reported 167 RAW, Jesse Sandole, called up Eater to discuss some more information on the new business. Though it was reported as a raw bar, Sandole wanted to emphasize that the new spot would mostly be a market for fresh, sushi-grade seafood and shellfish. He expressed that he came up with the idea after noticing a lack of options in the Charleston market.
For those unwilling to cook at home, he did mention they would offer a limited take-out menu (fish tacos and such) and host occasional pop-up sushi nights. There will even be a few bistro tables out front.
Therefore, think of 167 RAW as less of a new oyster slurping spot and more of a catering and fishmonger place.
