While the restaurant isn't located in the Lowcountry, many Charlestonians were heartbroken to hear of the fire at Scott's Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, S.C. today. Barbecue connoisseurs in town know Rodney Scott, the face of the establishment, because of his large role in this year's Cook It Raw event, as pitmaster, or from his accolades in Southern Living and from Husk chef Sean Brock.
Carolina Live first reported on the fire that destroyed Scott's cooking shed, and City Paper editor Stephanie Barna followed up with him. Barna assured that the restaurant was safe, but the 15 hogs prepared for the week were gone. She also said that Scott seemed to be taking it well, as he stated "That's what happens when you cook with fire."
