According to the Facebook page of Big John's Tavern, the dive bar and connected restaurant, The Green Door, were pushed out of their spot early by the building's owner, Ryan Condon.
First reported by Post and Courier's Hanna Raskin, proprietor of the Roti Rolls bricks and mortar space, Cory Burke, knew the restaurant's days were numbered, but thought he could stay until October 31. Apparently, Condon had other ideas, as today's post from Big John's stated, "This morning [Condon] changed the locks and shut down the bar for good. He is boarding up the building as we speak."
Raskin wrote in another report, Condon said he was merely renovating the bar and "return[ing] Big John's to what Big John's was when [he] started going there." Stay tuned to see what happens to the building at 251 East Bay St.
