As of 11:00 a.m. today, country cooking corner Jestine's Kitchen reopened to the public. Post and Courier writer Abigail Darlington spoke with owner Dana Berlin Strange about the restaurant's sudden shutdown in August. "Everyone kept saying we were remodeling, but really I meant that we were remolding," Strange said. "I needed a break, so I closed for month. I didn't think it would be such a big deal." This is a somewhat more reasonable answer than Strange's last interview where she cited, "I'm a woman," when asked about the closure.
There were none of the once prevalent long lines at noon today, but several patrons were dining inside. And yes, the signature salt shaker collection visitors have grown to love was still intact.
