DOWNTOWN Though it made our list of best late-night spots just last month, The Macintosh stopped serving their after-hours-ish menu. Last call on food is now 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and at 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. It was good while it lasted.
DOWNTOWN On October 13 Ted's Butcherblock is hosting a block party at noon to celebrate their 7th anniversary. The theme is "bacon extravaganza," so expect bacon tastings, in addition to a bacon-laced menu.
BOOK CLUB A new edition of Primal Cuts by Marissa Guggiana is now out, and it features two recipes by Cypress chef and charcuterie purveyor Craig Deihl. On the book and the state of butchering as a whole, Deihl says, "I don't want to use the words rockstar butchers, but there are unbelievable butchers out there who are making the field thrive."
