Bye Bye Beryl: Hit These Five Outdoor Spots Tonight

Photo: Discover SC

It seems that tropical storm Beryl is finally making its way past Charleston, so let's celebrate by moving the party outside tonight. There are plenty of great places to enjoy al fresco cocktails and snacks, so pack away your umbrellas and check out our picks.

vendue%20rooftop.jpg1) Rooftop at Vendue Inn
Where: 19 Vendue Range
What: OK, you can get food here, but you are probably just going for those stellar views of the water from the top floor of the Vendue Inn. You'll find reasonably priced drinks, live music and, if you go on a beautiful weekend night, a line.

Waters%20Edge.jpg2) Water's Edge
Where: 1407 Shrimp Boat Lane
What: Mt. Pleasant's Water's Edge is located on the insanely scenic Shem Creek. Want to watch dolphins frolic while you sip your white wine? This is your spot.

pane%20e%20vino.jpg3) Pane e Vino
Where: 17 Warren Street
What: The outdoor garden at downtown's Pane e Vino is one of Charleston's hidden gems. This romantic spot is a great place to take a date for some quiet drinks and antipasti.

bowens%20island.jpg4) Bowens Island
Where: 1870 Bowens Island Road
What: It's true. At Bowens Island you are going to get plastic utensils, paper napkins, and non-existent service. If you can deal with that, you're also going to get great fried shrimp (see you in the fall for more oysters), cold beer, and some of Charleston's prettiest views of the river and marsh. This may be the best sunset in the lowcountry.

fuel.jpg5) Fuel
Where: 211 Rutledge Avenue
What: Located in a renovated 1950's gas station, this cool spot has a great outdoor patio and is very dog friendly. The Caribbean-influenced menu has lots of good, shareable appetizers, but the drinks and atmosphere are the main reasons to check out this spot.
