XBB on Their Global Inspiration, Mid-November Opening

Xiao Bao Biscuit hasn't set an official date yet, but today they gave word that they'll be opening in mid-November, rather than earlier in the month as expected. They're hosting what will likely be their last pop-up dinner at GrowFood Carolina, and then it'll be all Radcliffeborough, all the time (well, Monday - Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.). The former gas station is still being built out, but the exterior was recently treated to some bright new paint.

Joey Ryan and Josh Walker talked with Art Mag about the global inspiration behind the restaurant, the process of transforming the location and their take on Asian soul food. The duo isn't about to get literal with their cuisine anytime soon: "Our goal is not to recreate Asia and bring it here, but create something unique that fits Charleston," Walker told Art Mag. "We're conscious of creating a space that feels right to our concept, both to tie into the history of Charleston as well as the history of the food we'll be serving."
